Grass Boy, also known as Peace, is one of my earliest pencil drawings and became my first ever art print. The original piece was created around a simple image of rest: a figure lying amongst the grass, eyes closed, completely at ease within the natural world.
As Death, that sense of surrender takes on a new meaning. Death represents endings, release and transformation, the point at which one state must be allowed to end so another can begin. The resting figure becomes part of that cycle, surrounded by nature and seemingly content to let go.
